Leaking Roof

After Tropical Storm Fay blew through I decided to go out and check the TT To make sure everything was ok. (I just bought a 2008 Hornet Hideout about 4 months ago). No damge to the outside however I did notice water leaking from the ceiling above the couch onto the storage compartments. I wiped it up with towles. I got my ladder looked on the roof and it seemed intact no dammage. I am not concerned with the repairs because the unit is still under warranty. But I am curious where the leak is coming from and if I should request them replace the wood cabinets ( does not appered to be dammage now but not sure if there could be a problem wit them warping in the future). I will be calling Dick Baker Rv tommorrow, they were very professional and curteous with the sale I hope they are the same hassle free dealer when it comes time to fix a problem.

RE: Stop thief!

I just took 2 squirrels out tonight in the back yard I would'nt even give them the oppritunity to do any damage to my house or my tt. But at a camp ground I have to agree we are in their territory. But don't think for a minute I would not keep a close eye on the little fella. Happy hunting i mean camping.

RE: Updated! Am I getting a good deal??

IMO too high would not pay that price. You could find a newer truck with less mileage for that price. I have a 2004 dodge 2500 quad cab fully loaded would 80k miles I would part with for 15,500 good ole american dollars.

RE: Change oil at 3K miles or by veh. computer ? Revised page 7

Read the motor oil thread there are many opinions, however go with what works for you. Mine get changed every 15-20k miles and filter gets changed twice in that interval but I use synthetic always have and always will. I like you have never had any motor related issues.

RE: motor oil

Changing synthetic oil every 3-5k miles? Waste of money. Mine get changed every 15-20 with the oil fiter getting changed twice. As far as synthetic oil breaking down? Takes a long time to happen the viscosity breakdown will not happen does not get hot enough. Don't waste your money every 3-5k miles let it go awhile you're not hurting anything.

RE: New Jayco!

I can give you some info on Deer Run Campground. I am from Schaghticoke and my parents currently live off route 40( same stretch of road the CG is on) Last summer the wife and I decided to go in to scope out the place with our 5 year old daughter in tow. We spoke to the people who were working there and they were not too helpful I did notice most camper there seem to be permenanet (not my style) ask them a few questions got no answers so continued to look noticed the sites were real close however seemed to be clean. Now I will say don't dare drive a half mile over the speed limit. Was driving when a person jumped in front of my vehicle yelling and screaming (as if I ran over a kid) slow the hell down as soon as he jumped in front of my truck I happend to look down at my digital speedomter and it said 9 mph My daughter was scared half to death I waved said sorry he came to my window asked me what lot i was in I told him I was not camping but just looking and told him not to worry because I would not be returning so my opinion would be to go 45 min north to the Adorondacks to say the Lake George area there is alot of good camping in them there hills. As far as things around Deer Run. You have Scgaghticoke really nothing but my old Hoosic Valley High School. Take a right out of the Cg and you have Mechanicville just on the right there is an OTB shares the parking lot with the Golf Course. The horses are running in Saratoga so an OTB will come in handy but as far as Mechanicville goes nothing exciting. Now Lake George area plenty to do alot of history there and alot of hiking trails or if you just want to stroll through the village. My wife loves this place and she is not from New York. If you have any more questions just ask and I will try to answer. Enjoy the camper and wherever you decide to camp. Brian

RE: 3600/5300 Craftsman Generator

Loud generator who cares. I have been to Iraq and our electricity is supplied from several 100kw generators. Talk about loud but after a few days you will get used to it. I bought a 5500 craftsman not the most expensive one but it serves my purpose. Don't forget I live off a military paycheck.

Have fun originally from Schaghticoke ny so Lake George is my old stomping grounds. Still have family in Clifton Park, Cohoes, Mechanicville, and Stillwater. Will be making a trip soon with the tt to the Adirondacks beautiful place. Have a fun and safe trip let me see some pics because Florida is a pretty boring state.

Generator question

I have a Troy built 5500w generator I started it up the other day and checked the voltage at the outlet. It read 130v. Question is if I hook the generator up to my tt will the 10 extra volts damage anything? I also do not see any sort of idle to bring the rpms down to lower the voltage output. I am thinking as soon as I put a load to it it should reduce the rpms thus reducing output viltage. Am I right?

RE: Going "Green" while camping?

I am with ya. I am not goinf out of my way to worry about loading up 10 1 gallon jugs of water when I can take a case of bottle water. But I put my trash in the proper place. When I am home I will recycle but when I am campnid i am not going to bring my trash back home with me I'm with The Weekender on this one.

RE: Traveling to hunting beach South Carolina

Good choice a beautiful state park. Camped there last year would go back this year if it was not for the gas prices. You will not be dissapointed, just bring plenty of sunscreen.

RE: Close to New TT/TV Decision

I was going to buy the ram 1500 talked the dealer into taking the truck to show the wife. Instead I took it back to the house hooked the camper up to it (my tt is only 19' but have plenty of truck to upgrade) and towed it around touwn. Then after playing tookmit back to the dealer and told them I wanted the 3/4 ton to show the wife. Hooked that baby up to the tt and the rest is history.
